doing shots at a dinner party

Last night K and I went to a dinner party at his colleague's house.  The party had 1 pregnant lady (wife of  the colleague), 2 toddlers, and one child in addition to the 8 adults.  The meal was great.  (Yummy BBQ.  There is just something extra special about eating BBQ in Winter/Fall.  And the company was greater.  We didn't know anyone but the hosts.  But everyone was friendly and we enjoyed watching the little girls play.  They had little strollers with baby dolls and pushed them about the house.  K commented "this is where it starts huh."  At the end of the night one of the toddler girls kissed me a sweet little kiss the way only baby girls can and it just melted my heart.  Then she beckoned K to come over so she could kiss him on the cheek.  My heart was liquid after this.  It was just the sweetest thing.  I want one!  But you all already know that.
I had to steal away to give myself my lupron injection during the party.  That was interesting.  I was worried that someone would think I spending an awfully long time in the powder room.  But whatever.  People do on occasion have to spend long amounts of time in powder rooms.  I'm sure no one would guess that I was shooting up in there.  Filling my body with drugs that will help me to give a little playmate to those precious girls.  Anyway it went off without a hitch.  So I'm more prepared for repeating this on Thanksgiving which we will be spending with a different group of friends.
On a different note, I wanted to keep a running list of all the blogs I have visitited for ICLW.    I like to start from the bottom and work my way up.  So far I have visitited #s109-91.  And already I've found some that I will go back to for sure.  I love ICLW.

My most interesting shot was when I did one in the men's room of a restaurant. The women's lineup was ridiculous, and I just wanted it overwith, so in I went, stall and all, and did it. If only people knew!!!

Aww what a precious moment with the little girls, that is where it begins isn't it with our baby dolls :0) Praying by christmas you will get a BFP under your christmas tree both of us! If only people know half the things us ladies with IF do, ha ha ha

I did various shots in all sorts of interesting places--at the mourner's house after someone's funeral, in an airport bathroom, etc. What we won't do for children. *sigh* Good luck! I hope this is it for you! Here from ICLW.

I shot up at a party this weekend also! They were all close friends so they knew what was going on so I am sure it made it easier on us.
I hope your cycle is going well!

Love the shot cartoon. So true!

I have to shoot up at the airport this week. Not exactly sure where the best spot to do that will be.

Love the cartoon! We just started the Lupron on Nov21, so we'll be very close to the same schedule!

Glad to hear the cysts shouldn't be a problem & you're still a go!

I can completely relate to the angst you and K felt at the dinner party. We also have some friendly neighbors who all have children, and evertime I see their children playing outside or do something sweet and adorable, my heart aches a bit more for my own little one. It's tough. I hope that we will soon get to know the feeling of being parents.

First, I'm laughing OUT LOUD @ Chicklet's comment (but that's nothing unusual).

I love the comic you included with the post... o sad, and yet so true.

Best of luck to you!

I love the cartoon! It sounds like your spirits are high. I can't wait to start injections in January! Waiting sucks. Take care of yourself. Deb (your often absent TTTC sister) ; )

I had to do one of mine in a public bathroom at a school one time. My mom was helping me and these 2 ladies walked in and I thought they are going to freak out but they were just like "hey my best friend is doing the same thing. Good Luck" It was very funny. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and all this shot taking will be worth it in the end. ((HUGS))

I am glad your secret shot went well. I have to laugh at that cartoon. I have a friend who is very new to the world of IF and to her a shot still is a drink! To be that innocent again...

All the best with this cycle and the secret shot on T day!

Thanks for stopping by my blog this week. I really appreciate the kind words. That is one funny cartoon. I remember reading that on a Sunday paper about 3 months ago. Both DH and I got a good laugh out of that. I am glad your secret shot went well. Hope you have a happy thanksgiving and wishing you all the best for your upcoming cycle.

this is my first ICLW and I also love it!
I know exactly what you are saying with melting from a kid's kiss...
I like the cartoon too. One of my friends said that they should have a shot party for me. When I replied that she should know that I can't drink right now, she said, that she actually meant a party where we would get girlfriends together, I'd go off do my shot and then we'd all watch movies. It was super sweet.
I'll be checking back on your blog. :)
thanks for visiting mine.

You are very strong to give yourself the injections, I honestly don't know if I could do it. I think it's so impressive when women can just get it done! I'm wishing you the best of luck. I also just read (from your post) the info on ICLW, that sounds so awesome. I'm going to try to read them as well and maybe add myself on the 1st. Take care! Amy

I've never seen an IVF comic strip before! Hilarious!

I was at a dinner party this weekend with kids and babies, and I stayed far away from all of them and kept steering the conversation back to "grownup" topics.

Best of luck with your cycle!

Thanks for your ICLW comment...

After 4 IVFs in total I found myself having to inject my drugs in some interesting locations. I hope that the most interesting you get is a friends nice clean bathroom! Good luck with your cycle!
